Corriger les évolutions démographiques négatives nécessite un temps long afin que les actions mises en œuvre depuis 2008, produisent leurs effets sur l’augmentation de la population.
Démographie à Metz : le tournant des années 2000 :
A notre arrivée à la direction de la ville en 2008, nous n’avions pas encore toutes les données statistiques de l’INSEE nécessaires pour bien mesurer la réalité démographique de la ville. Certains indicateurs nous montraient cependant des évolutions négatives pour la ville (logements, emplois…).
Avec le recul statistique nécessaire, les données de l’INSEE montrent nettement un retournement démographique de la population de la Ville de Metz à partir du début des années 2000, avec moins 1863 habitants de 2000 à 2009.
Un solde migratoire fortement dégradé :
On peut constater – avant notre arrivée en 2008 – un doublement du déficit des arrivées sur les départs de Metz au début des années 2000, période pendant laquelle on enregistre en moyenne chaque année environ 6000 arrivées pour 7000 départs.
La Ville de Metz regagne des moins de 20 ans : une première depuis 1968
Les données de la Ville de Metz par tranche d’âge nous montrent une perte régulière des moins de 20 ans de 1968 à 2011 avec moins 12 210 habitants (perte de 225 habitants de moins de 20 ans en moyenne par an sur cette période).
Depuis 2011, la Ville de Metz regagne à nouveau des habitants de moins de 20 ans, avec 400 habitants supplémentaires de 2011 à 2016 (80/an), montrant une nouvelle dynamique de la Ville de Metz pour les moins de 20 ans.
